Artist's Comments---- EDIT : As I received a lot of remark on the angel's face I have change it because you had all right ^^ !!! maybe better no?! I have change some little part on all the painting too and add two textures from my stock : [link] [link] ---- I think it's different compared with what I usualy do... but I started this painting by a simple portrait without idea and finaly it become this "thing"! I'm okay... It's not realy original XD so, I took the name "ange gardien" (eee "guardian angel"?) and I imagined that: people are related to an angel. but here this one had received an arrow, so the human die in same time. a dove accompanies the angel but when he/she die these birds fly to the sky and angels disappears This is my entry to "Myth's And Legend's Contest " by the club Hope you understand me XD I'm realy tired !! good night ╔═════════════════════════════════════════╗ ♦Info: All my works are © Aude Pfister aka Whisperss(s) ♦DON'T use,repost,edit... it WITHOUT my permission!please ╚═════════════════════════════════════════╝ Comments
great work, good luck in the contest
-- War is not healthy for children and other living things ... ~peace, love and groovy stuff~ [link] It does seem interesting how the mists cover the mass of the dead, and yet the dead are not surrounded by them. Almost as if the souls a warm blanketed mas before ascending. Also how the world around her seems unreal, or blurred, while she, and the place she's headed to are the only things in existence. I'm guessing the blood stains at the edge of the dress has quite a bit in ways to interpret it. This is just what I'm seeing. Beautiful contrasts. I Love IT! ^-^

Your choice of dark and ruddy colors for the ground and soldiers works very well with the theme of this piece, and the brilliant white of the angel and her wings compliments the piece well, however, I think a bit more work could be done on the angel herself. She looks a bit unfinished compared with the background. I would advise making her little tears stand out a bit more, or perhaps furrowing her brow, giving her a facial expression, to denote her emotion. Her face looks a little to unemotive for the emotion this piece seems to convey.
My other suggestion would be to add a little more definition to the wings, but that may be just a personal preference.
Keep up the lovely work <3
The colours you have chosen really reflect the muddy and bloody nature of battles, and then there's the angel who stands out as a sign of hope. But then you see the blood and the arrow in her chest, and you realise even an angel couldn't survive that fight. It's a really nice effect.
I have to say, the angel's wings are beautiful! The details again help give this painting more impact. I also like the angle of the wings, they fit nicely in the frame of the picture.
One thing I would say however, is that the angel's face doesn't give the impression she's been shot with an arrow and possibly dying. There's no pain there. She could possibly be numb to the pain, but then I wouldn't say she looks numb either. Also, I didn't know she was crying until I viewed the details because I couldn't see the tears (that could just be my laptop though, the screen doesn't have great colours)
I find this piece very believable, i.e. everything looks like it could be that way in real life (if angels and ghosts could be seen). For example, the spears/various weapons protruding from the corpses have a nice variety of angles, and the angles look right, like the soldiers fell and did not move.
This piece invokes a lot of feeling in me, which I think good paintings should do.
